About Me
My name is Melissa Farmer and I will be providing specially designed instruction for fifth grade special education students. This is my 22th year of teaching in Isle of Wight County Schools. I LOVE fifth grade and am excited about the new school year!
I grew up in Smithfield, Virginia and attended James Madison University where I earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Business and a Master’s degree in Special Education. I started teaching in 1993 at Hardy Elementary and taught K- 5 special education resource for nine years. I then decided to stay home for several years to be with my two sons. This is my twelfth year teaching at Westside Elementary.
My goal is to engage my students in learning in a nurturing environment where each student's individual needs are taken into account to ensure that they shows growth not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.
