Art - Taught by Ms. Beth Gibble

In Fourth Grade you will:

Explore the elements of art (color, form, line, shape, space, texture, value) and the principles of design (balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, proportion, rhythm, unity, variety) as the basic building blocks for art appreciation and production. Students will use a range of art materials, subject matter, and ideas in personal works of art. They will examine the influence of art of the past on contemporary culture.

In Fifth Grade you will:

Use your knowledge and skills to synthesize information so you can produce and respond to works of art. Emphasis will be on communication of personal values and beliefs in art appreciation and production. Students will continue to gain fluency in using and understanding the elements of art (color, form, line, shape, space, texture, value) and the principles of design (balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, proportion, rhythm, unity, variety) as they relate to artistic expression and communication.

In Sixth Grade you will:

Explore studio processes and use the elements of art (color, form, line, shape, space, texture, value) and the principles of design (balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, proportion, rhythm, unity, variety) as a framework for investigating a variety of ideas for creating art. Through critical analysis and evaluation, students will determine how artists convey meaning through the use of forms, media, and symbols.
